Team Verse
"Then Jesus said to his disciples,"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life must lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." Matthew 16:24-25

And We're Off
I haven't updated in awhile. I couldn't somehow get the
latest photos downloaded so I put it off. We are ready,
prepared and leaving for Honduras in a few hours. We
done all that we could and now it is time to let God use
us as He wants too!! What trust and faith I have in my
Savior. I know that He personally called each team member.
I know that He will do His good pleasure. May all we do
and say bring glory to Him!

Let's Meet The Lenca
Our team will be working high in the mountains of Honduras. We are going
to help with the work that has begun with the Lenca Indian people.
You might be asking - "Who are the Lenca?" Let me introduce you to this
wonderful group of people. The Lenca are the largest group of indigenous people
in Honduras. 125,000 Lenca Indians live in 1,196 villages. Less than
2% are evangelized. Thy have lost their native tongue and now Spanish is their
primary language. The Lenca are the poorest people group in all of Honduras
and also the least educated. Most Lenca are farmers. They cultivate crops such as
corn, beans, wheat, coffee, squash, sugarcane and chili peppers. They earn about
$3.00 a week. The women are in the home. Their homes are built with mud bricks,
a dirt floor, and clay tiles for the roof. There is no running water, sanitation, or
electricity. The average home is around 200 square feet, with usually 1 bedroom
and one kitchen. The mountain air cools the houses. The women cook over wood
burning ovens. Their diet mainly consists of corn tortillas and beans.
Now lets meet the Lenca!
I forgot to say that they do not have cars! These are all pictures that I took on my 1st
trip to Honduras to work with the Lenca.

Working Together
A simple exercise that I use to encourage our team to work together
is using a paper chain. In this case we divided into 2 groups- men
against women. I gave both groups - uncut paper, scissors, and tape.
They have 5 minutes to construct a paper chain. The group with the
longest chain wins. The BIG CATCH - all team members can only
use 1 hand and the other hand must be kept behind their back!
One scriptural reference is found in 1 Corinthians 12:12-14,
"For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members
of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For we
were all baptized by one spirit so as to form one body....
Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many."

Preparing for Evangelism
We have been preparing for our mission. One of the things
we learned is how to evangelize using the Evangecube. It
is not easy to share the plan of salvation but it is made a little
bit easier with the cube because the pictures can prompt you.

Team Theme Song
I chose this missions song because of the words which simply state -
"Let it start with me." This was filmed in Bangkok, Thailand. Although
our team is going to a remote region of Honduras the message is so
relevant for us!
Short-term Mission Team
We are a short-term mission team from First Baptist Church of Atlanta. We are so excited to be going to work with the Lenca Indians in the Lempira Mountain region of Honduras. Our trip dates are June 21-28, 2014. Please follow along with us on our journey!!
